What Is End of Service Gratuity?

Under UAE labour law, every employee who completes at least one year of continuous service is entitled to an end of service gratuity payment. This is calculated based on your basic salary and length of service. For Filipino OFWs who worked in the UAE for several years, this can represent a significant sum. Many workers leave the UAE without receiving their full entitlement, sometimes because their employer failed to pay it, sometimes because they were unaware of the exact amount owed.

DEWS and DIFC Pension Schemes

Workers employed in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) are enrolled in the DEWS (DIFC Employee Workplace Savings) scheme, a funded pension scheme that replaced the traditional gratuity system. Similarly, ADGM has its own pension arrangements. These schemes hold contributions that may still be unclaimed. PensionHunter searches all of these for you.

How We Search

We research the GPSSA, DEWS administrators, DIFC and ADGM pension schemes, and your former employers. We use your employment history and signed Information Request Authority to prepare a complete information request for every fund we identify, written and ready to send, asking for a full statement of your entitlements. You send them, and we answer your questions about whatever comes back, on your workplace and state pension alike, for as long as your case is open.

Frequently Asked Questions

In most cases, yes. UAE labour law entitles workers to end of service gratuity regardless of whether they resigned or were terminated, provided they completed at least one year of service. The calculation may differ slightly depending on the circumstances of departure.
