Find Lost MPF in Hong Kong
Hong Kong's Mandatory Provident Fund system requires every employer to contribute 5% of salary, and employees match with another 5%. This means every job in Hong Kong creates an MPF account. For workers who had multiple jobs, that means multiple scattered accounts.
The MPFA estimates that millions of MPF accounts are held by people who have left Hong Kong or changed jobs without consolidating. The total value of forgotten MPF accounts runs into billions of Hong Kong dollars.
Why MPF accounts get lost
Each employer creates a new MPF account with their chosen trustee. Workers who change jobs frequently accumulate multiple accounts across different trustees, HSBC, AIA, Manulife, Sun Life, BCT, Hang Seng and others. When workers leave Hong Kong, they often forget these accounts entirely.
How PensionHunter finds your MPF
We research MPF trustees using MPFA public information and your Hong Kong employment history, then prepare a complete request pack for each fund we identify, written and ready to send under your signed Information Request Authority (IRA). We do not access HKID-protected MPFA systems, trustees respond to an authorised request pack, prepared for you to send using your signed Information Request Authority (IRA).
Permanent departure withdrawal
Expats who have permanently left Hong Kong can apply for early withdrawal of their MPF accrued benefits. This is one of the few grounds for early MPF access and requires evidence of permanent departure from Hong Kong.
