Questions and help
Some countries set deadlines after you leave. Japan: The lump sum withdrawal payment (dattai ichijikin) must be applied for within the statutory two year time limit after leaving the public pension system. Brazil: A death pension is paid from the date of death only if it is applied for within 90 days of the death (180 days for children under 16).

What do I get for $99?
Who holds each of your pensions today, state and workplace, including employers that were renamed or merged, with the official contact route and any deadlines. One full report in 24 to 48 hours, read by a named researcher.
My old employer no longer exists or changed its name. Can you still find my pension?
Yes, that is what we specialise in. We trace your old employer to the fund or insurer that holds your pension today and give you the official route to contact them.
Is this legitimate, and do you take a cut of my pension?
We are a UK company (No. 13326151), ICO registered (ZC113586), rated on Trustpilot. You pay a fixed price, we never take a commission and we never touch your money.
What if you find nothing?
If we find nothing material, we tell you before we deliver and refund you in full.
What is the free pension register?
It is free for you: pension funds look for former members there as they join. Nothing is shared without your yes.
How long does a report take?
A Country report arrives within 24 to 48 hours. Enhanced reports take five working days and Global reports ten working days from your intake form.
I live in a different country now. Can you still help?
Yes. Where you live now does not matter: we research the countries where you worked.
What is the difference between Country, Enhanced and Global?
The Country report ($99) names who holds each pension in one country, with the contact route. Enhanced ($199) adds a ready-to-send request and our team of experts helps you until the end, and Global ($299) does the same for every country you worked in.
What do I need to start?
The countries you worked in, rough years and the names of your employers. No documents and no ID: our security pledge lists what we never ask you for.
Do you contact the pension fund for me?
No, you contact them yourself, with the official contact route in your report. Enhanced and Global add a ready-to-send request, and our team of experts helps you until the end.
Which countries do you cover?
We research pensions in 41 countries: United Kingdom, Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, UAE, Vietnam, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, India, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Liechtenstein, Bulgaria, Iceland, Latvia, Romania, Austria, Portugal, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Israel, Slovenia and United States.
Is there a free way to check?
Yes. The free check shows which of your countries may hold a pension, and every report names the free official routes first.
What do you keep, and for how long?
We delete the full record of a free check after 30 days unless you order; its watch keeps your first name, email address, countries, employers and years for 2 years (a report's watch 3 years) until you stop it with one click, and a free register entry goes after 24 months without activity. You can ask us to delete your data at any time; we then keep only what the law requires, such as invoices, and anonymised statistics that cannot identify you.
Do you give financial or tax advice?
No, we do not give financial or tax advice. Identification and research only: no commission, and we never hold your money.
Can I use PensionHunter in Claude and other AI assistants?
Yes. Our free MCP connector works inside Claude and other AI assistants, with no key needed, at https://mcp.pensionhunter.ai.
What is PensionHunter?
PensionHunter is building the world's pension identification infrastructure: a global pension research service finding forgotten pensions across 41 countries. The mission is a world where no pension is lost or forgotten. The Pension Scoreboard, the portal directory and the country guides are always free. The reports are part of how we fund the work. We use human researchers and AI to research pension registries and trace employer histories. At the Enhanced and Global Pension Identification Report tiers, we also draft a complete request pack for each identified administrator, written and ready for you to send yourself. We never contact administrators for you. Fixed fee. Full refund if we find nothing material.
Can't ChatGPT or Gemini just do this?
AI can tell you what a pension is. It cannot tell you that you have one. Go and try it: ask it which scheme holds your money and who administers it today, then ask it for the source and the date it checked. It cannot look anything up in your name, and it will name an administrator fluently whether or not that name is right. We use AI too, and nothing reaches you until a source has proved it, with a human researcher reading every report before it is sent and a full refund if we find nothing material. The full answer is at pensionhunter.ai/can-ai-find-my-pension.
Who founded PensionHunter?
Frank Marco Holle, in London. He spent months finding his own pensions across four countries and built PensionHunter so nobody else has to. His story is on the About page.
What does "Building the world's pension identification infrastructure" mean?
It is our mission: building the world's pension identification infrastructure. We maintain a Pension Knowledge Base, which also covers countries we take no cases in, and produce independent, evidence-based Pension Identification Reports in the 41 countries covered by our full Pension Identification Service. Fixed fee, three report tiers.
How do I find a pension from an old job?
Start a search with us and provide the employer name, approximate dates and location. Our research team will trace the pension provider associated with that employer and check whether you have an entitlement held there.
Can I order a Pension Identification Report just to get my affairs in order?
Yes, and many clients do exactly that. You get one clear document showing where every pension from your working life is held, who administers it, and how your family can reach them. File it with your will and insurance papers and the job is done. If we identify nothing, the fee is refunded in full.
Why would I have a pension I do not know about?
Because most pensions start without a signature. In many countries employers enrol staff automatically, so people build up pensions they never chose and never track. The register keepers publish the scale of this: the Pensions Policy Institute estimated around 3 million pots lost in the UK, worth at least £18.7 billion (Lost Pensions 2026, October 2026, a lower-bound estimate the PPI says is not comparable with earlier editions), Capitalize counted $2.13 trillion left behind in 31.9 million accounts US 401(k) accounts (September 2025), and the Australian Taxation Office reported A$21.2 billion in lost and ATO-held super as at 30 June 2026. Moving between countries makes it more likely, because letters stop arriving and logins expire. A Pension Identification Report checks the countries where you worked and puts what exists on paper.
How much pension money do people leave behind when they move countries?
No official body has ever published a figure for it, so we built the first estimate. The Uncounted, PensionHunter's annual research report, put the floor at 74 billion US dollars in July 2026 across three corridors (UK, US and Australia). Recomputed by the same method on 15 October 2026 with the Pensions Policy Institute's Lost Pensions 2026 figures and the ATO's figure as at 30 June 2026, converted at ECB euro foreign exchange reference rates, 14 October 2026, the floor is at least 72 billion US dollars. The methodology is conservative by construction and published in full, free, at pensionhunter.ai/research/the-uncounted-2026.pdf.
Why pay $99 when I can contact my old employer myself?
Because after twenty years your old employer may have merged, been renamed or dissolved, and the pension rarely sits where they left it. We trace the corporate chain and the scheme records across borders and hand you the exact door to knock on. If we find nothing material, the $99 comes back. Either way you stop wondering.
Can I upgrade to a higher report tier?
Yes, that is the whole point of the model. The Pension Identification Report is a deliberate capability sample: pay $99 per country for one report covering every country you tick, not a teaser; everything we find, fully sourced, so you can judge our work first. If you have already run a Pension Identification Report, your $99 is credited when you upgrade. Full refund if we find nothing material.
Why not just use a free government service?
Free government tracing services only cover a single country and often take months to respond. They don't search across borders, don't trace employers, and don't tell you which scheme covered the years you worked. Our professional research team researches pension registries and traces employer records across all 41 countries we cover. At the Enhanced and Global Pension Identification Report tiers, we prepare a complete information request for every fund we identify, written and ready to send, under your signed Information Request Authority, you receive a written report with full contact details so you can act on the findings.
How do you find pensions across borders?
We cross-reference your employment history against national pension registries, employer tracing databases, provider directories and regulatory records across all 41 countries we cover, and we prepare a complete information request for every fund we identify, written and ready to send. The process combines human researchers and AI for multi-source verification.
What happens to a pension when a company closes?
When a company closes, its pension scheme doesn't disappear. The pension obligations are typically transferred to an insurance company, a successor employer, or a government protection scheme (such as the PPF in the UK). We trace these transfers to find where your pension sits today.
Can I find a pension without a National Insurance number?
Yes. While a National Insurance number (or local equivalent) makes the research faster, it is not essential. We can trace pensions using your name, date of birth, employment history and other identifying information.
What do you actually do with my pension once you find it?
Nothing. We find it and report back to you in a written report. We provide you with full details of the provider, the scheme, and contact information. All decisions about what to do with your pension are entirely yours. We recommend consulting a qualified independent financial adviser before making any pension decisions.
How many prepared requests are in my Enhanced Pension Identification Report pack?
One for every fund we identify. If you worked for four employers and we identify three funds, your pack contains three prepared information requests, each addressed to the right scheme administrator or trustee, ready to send. Where an employer cannot be matched to a scheme, we say so honestly, explain what that means, and give you the free official route to keep tracing rather than a letter addressed to nobody.
What if I lose my report, or my family needs help with it?
We re-send your report free, anytime: email hello@pensionhunter.ai from the address you ordered with. And the people around you can always approach us. If a family member ever needs help understanding the report or what to do next, our research team will guide them through it. Where a report or case details need to be shared, we first complete the appropriate checks, so your information only ever reaches the right hands.
What happens with my report after I am gone?
The report is built to outlive its owner. It names every institution, every contact route and every reference your family needs, and whoever holds it can approach our team at any time. We help them understand what it says, and at Enhanced Pension Identification Report tier we prepare the information requests for the estate in the executor's name, written and ready to send, with the executor attaching the documents that establish their authority. Providers respond to your family directly. Where anything needs to be shared, we complete the appropriate checks first.
Do I have a pension in Singapore?
Only if you held Singapore citizenship or permanent residence while you worked there. Foreigners on an Employment Pass or other work pass have been excluded from CPF since 1 January 2003, so for those years no CPF account exists in your name. Anything set aside for you sits in your employer's own arrangement. If you were a permanent resident, check your account at cpf.gov.sg. Rule checked 4 August 2026.
Do I have a pension from working in Vietnam before 2018?
No, not in the national system. Compulsory social insurance for foreign workers began on 1 December 2018 under Decree 143/2018/ND-CP, and the pension and survivorship element on 1 January 2022. For Vietnamese employment before December 2018 nothing was being set aside for you by the state. If a foreign employer seconded you, anything that exists sits with that employer. Rule checked 4 August 2026.
Do you offer a search for a deceased relative or for someone with dementia?
Yes. If you are settling an estate, or acting for someone who has lost capacity, start at Estate Pension Search. Email hello@pensionhunter.ai and a researcher replies personally. If the person held a PensionHunter report, bring it: the research is already done. The official tracing services in each country remain available to executors, attorneys and next of kin.
Is my data safe?
Your data is encrypted and handled under UK GDPR. We never cold-call, never ask for bank details, and never ask you to transfer your pension. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO Registration No. ZC113586). We never sell or share your data without your explicit consent. All information is used solely for the purpose of your pension research.
Are you regulated by the FCA?
No. PensionHunter provides pension research and administrative assistance only. We are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority because we do not provide financial advice, manage pension funds, or conduct claims management activity. We are a research and administrative service.

Questions before you order
Write to us at hello@pensionhunter.ai with the countries you worked in and what you already know. Our pension research team replies within 24 hours.
You do not need documents to ask. Employer names, rough dates and the countries are enough for us to tell you how a search would start.
AI vs us
AI can answer pension questions. It cannot tell you where your lost pensions are.
We identify who holds the record today in each country you worked in. A named researcher reviews every paid report, and each finding comes with its source and the date we read it.

Deadlines after you leave
Most entitlements do not expire, but a few do: in some countries the right to ask runs out.
Pick the country you left and the date you left, or a date of death, and the free checker shows the date the official rule gives, with the official route, the source and the date we read it. We store anonymous counts of the countries asked about, never names or contact details.
Acting for someone who has died
Settling an estate? We identify every pension the person held, with ready to send information requests for the executor. Executors and family start here.
Decisions stay with the estate. We are a research service, not financial advice, and we never hold your money.
Your watch
Do you keep my details?
Yes, so we can keep looking for you. We keep your first name, email address and the countries, employers and years you gave us. A free check watch lasts 2 years and a report watch 3 years, then we ask you once whether to continue. Stop any time with one click: the Stop watching link is on your result page and in your emails. Nothing about you goes to a pension fund without your yes to that match. After a watch stops or ends we keep only anonymous facts (country, employer, years), with no name or contact details. Order and invoice records stay 6 years because the law requires it.
What is the watch?
We keep looking for you. As new funds, registers and countries join our research, we look again for the countries, employers and years you gave us and tell you if one shows a match. How do I stop the watch?
Stop any time with one click: the Stop watching link is on your result page and in your emails. We stop at once and delete your name and email address from the watch. You can also write to hello@pensionhunter.ai. A free check watch lasts 2 years and a report watch 3 years, then we ask you once whether to continue. What do you keep after I stop?
After a watch stops or ends we keep only anonymous facts (country, employer, years), with no name or contact details. Those anonymous facts, with any fund and authority answers, help us show where pensions are left behind.
