Page last checked 20 October 2026

Pension Pie is a paid pension tracing service. It searches for your pensions, writes to providers and chases their replies, for a fixed fee. We set its published fee beside ours. Many of these firms also file the paperwork or move the money, which we do not. We compare them with us on four things only: identification, price, coverage and who keeps the money. We never hold client money and we never take a share of it. Every fee below is quoted from Pension Pie's own page, read on 20 October 2026, and listed with its address in the sources at the end.

Pension Pie, in its own words

Its questions page states that the "fee is £249, which covers a full, detailed trace for up to five pensions", and that "additional searches can be added for £40 each".

The details it asks for include "your name, date of birth, National Insurance number". The page names UK bodies such as the Financial Conduct Authority, and it does not state that it covers pensions outside the UK.

What we do instead

We identify pensions you may have left in the countries you worked in, across 41 countries, using official sources. We identify only. You then contact each fund, or apply, yourself. We do not give financial advice. For the UK, as for every country we cover, our report names what may exist and the official route to it.

The Country Pension Identification Report is $99 for one country. The Enhanced Pension Identification Report is $129 for two countries. The Global Pension Identification Report is $149 for three or more countries. If our report finds nothing material, you get a full refund. The refund terms are on our pricing page.

Worked example

Take a made-up case: someone has three old workplace pensions in the UK and has lost track of them.

  • Pension Pie: £249, which covers up to five pensions
  • PensionHunter: $99 for the UK report, about £74. You then contact each provider yourself.

If the same person also worked in Ireland, our Enhanced report covers both countries for $129, about £97. Pension Pie's page does not state that it covers Ireland.

Converted figures use the European Central Bank's euro reference rates of 19 October 2026, read on 20 October 2026, and are approximate.

Frequently asked questions

Which is cheaper for three lost UK pensions? On that made-up case our $99 report, about £74, costs less than Pension Pie's published £249.

Do you write to the providers for me? No. We identify only. You contact each provider yourself. Pension Pie's fee includes writing to providers and chasing them, which ours does not.

Do you cover pensions outside the UK? Yes. One report can cover any of the 41 countries we cover, and the Global report covers all of them for $149.

Do either of you take a share of the pension? No. Both charge a fixed fee. We never hold client money and never take a share of it.

Try the alternative first

AI can tell you what a pension is. It cannot tell you that you have one. It is genuinely good at explaining how a rule works, and if that is all you needed, you have saved yourself a fee.

Then ask it which scheme holds your money and who administers it today, and ask it for the source and the date it checked. Why that is where it ends
