Bulgaria pension deadlines for people who left
We list every obligation we have verified in Bulgaria's pension system that runs on a time limit for someone who no longer lives there. Each row says what starts the clock, how long it runs and what is lost, with the official source and the date we checked it. We hold 2 rows for Bulgaria. Where an official source is silent, we say so on the row rather than guess.
Pick the year and we open the free checker with Bulgaria already selected.
- What starts the clock
- Date of acquiring the right to the pension (for survivor pensions: date of death of the deceased)
- How long
- Within 2 months of that date
- What is lost
- If the documents are filed after the 2-month period has expired, the pension and supplements are granted from the date of filing rather than from the date the right was acquired.
NOI: since 1 January 2017 pensions and supplements are granted from the date the right was acquired if the application with the required documents is filed within 2 months of that date. If the documents are filed after the 2-month period, the pension is granted from the date of filing. Survivor pensions and 'widow's supplements' are granted from the day after the deceased's pension ended when the application is filed within 2 months of the date of death.
What the source does not say
The source states this as a start-date rule. It does not describe the later start as a loss of arrears.
