Pension question, South Africa

How do former GEPF members abroad find their benefit?

Its list of benefits nobody has applied for is issued province by province inside South Africa, and the GEPF confirmed to us in writing on 13 and 17 August 2026 that there is no overseas breakdown. The forms demand a certified copy of your ID with a certification stamp no older than six months, plus a banking details form.

Can a former member still apply for payment?

The page lists the usual causes (missing beneficiary information, missing or erroneous Z102 exit forms, no SARS tax directive because tax affairs are not in order, payments returned for bad banking details) and states that former members, beneficiaries and their guardians can still apply for payment.

Do you give advice on what to do?

No. We identify where a pension is likely held and the official route to it, and we name each source with the date we read it. We do not give financial, tax or legal advice.
