Pension question, Chile

Can foreign technical workers withdraw their AFP funds under Ley 18.156?

Superintendencia de Pensiones, consulta de afiliacion: A genuine central lookup: the Superintendencia de Pensiones affiliation consult names which of the seven AFPs holds an individual account under DL 3.500, keyed to the RUN plus name, email and telephone. ClaveUnica requires a valid cedula. Foreign technical workers may apply for a refund of contributions under Ley 18.156 via notarized power of attorney. AFP money nobody has applied for never becomes the property of the AFP: balances pass to heirs, and the State takes only where no heirs exist. Ley 21.735 (2025) phases the employer contribution to 8.5 per cent by 2033. And the Ley 18.156 exemption had to be written into the employment contract at the time of hiring, so that door closed the day you signed.

Questions people also ask

Does the account close after a short spell?

The balance stays invested, it is heritable if you die, and a short spell leaves a smaller balance rather than a closed account.
