Pension question, Romania

What is the minimum contribution period for a Romanian pension?

The minimum contributory period is 15 years for women and men, and the complete contributory period is 35 years. Under 15 years there is no Romanian old age pension, so a few years of work buys no Romanian payment on its own.

Questions people also ask

Do the Romanian years count in another EU country?

Those years still count elsewhere, because Regulation 883/2004 obliges other member states to take them into account.

No. We identify where a pension is likely held and the official route to it, and we name each source with the date we read it. We do not give financial, tax or legal advice.
