Pension questions

Romania pension questions

These are the questions people search about a pension left in Romania. Each page answers its question in the first two sentences, and we show those two sentences below, read from the official source with the date we read it. We identify where a pension is likely held and the route to it. We do not give advice.

English

  • What is the minimum contribution period for a Romanian pension?

The minimum contributory period is 15 years for women and men, and the complete contributory period is 35 years. Under 15 years there is no Romanian old age pension, so a few years of work buys no Romanian payment on its own.

  • When should I apply for a Romanian pension?

An application filed within 30 calendar days of meeting the pension conditions is granted from the date those conditions were met. Filed later, the pension runs only from the date the application is registered, and the months in between are not paid.
