An appeal against a Department of Social Protection decision must be lodged within 60 days of the date on the decision letter for decisions dated on or after 28 April 2025.
What is lost: You must ask the Social Welfare Appeals Office for extra time, with good reasons for the delay and evidence if you can provide it.

Claim State Pension (Contributory) within the prescribed time of 3 months from the first date of entitlement
What is lost: The same table row gives a late claim disqualification of 6 months before date of claim for this scheme, meaning a claim made outside the 3 month prescribed time is treated as a late claim and backdated payment is limited to the 6 months before the date the claim is actually made, subject to the extended backdating grounds set out separately for this scheme.
