What is conservacion de derechos at IMSS?
An old age, cesantía or invalidity pension must be applied for before the conservación de derechos period expires after leaving insured employment. That period equals one quarter of the person's total contributed time.

What if that period has run out?
If the person is outside the conservación de derechos period, IMSS states a pension cannot be granted under any circumstance, even if the person otherwise meets the contributed weeks and age or medical opinion requirements.
