Pension question, Netherlands
What happens to a small Dutch pension?
A pension provider may transfer it automatically to the participant's new provider without consent, pay it out monthly from the pension date, or commute it and pay it out in one lump sum on the pension date. Commutation before the pension date is possible only in three listed cases, each requiring the participant's agreement for post-2007 pensions.
What to do next
- Keep every letter from a Dutch pension fund, because a small pension can move to a new provider without a new letter from the old one.
- List each Dutch employer and the years you worked there, even short jobs.
