Pension question, Portugal
Do Portuguese pensioners abroad need a proof of life?
A pensioner living abroad must give a prova de vida between 1 May and 15 September each year; from 2027 this binds every pensioner resident abroad, under Decreto-Lei 40/2025. Proof not delivered by the end of September suspends the pension from November 2026 until it is given.
