Slovenia pension questions

These are the questions people search about a pension left in Slovenia. Each page answers its question in the first two sentences, and we show those two sentences below, read from the official source with the date we read it. We identify where a pension is likely held and the route to it. We do not give advice.

English

  • Can I get a Slovenian pension after 15 years of insurance?

Slovenia's floor is 15 years of insurance, and on the 2026 transitional table that route opens at 65, rising to 66 years and 9 months by 2034. The rating base is the monthly average of the most favourable consecutive years since 1970, counted over 24 years in 2026 and 2027 and widening to 38 by 2034, and a calendar year counts only if it holds six months of insurance.

  • How do I apply for a Slovenian pension from abroad?

The application goes in one country only, normally the country of residence or of last employment, and must name every country you were insured in. ZPIZ states the pension runs from the day the conditions are met but at most from the first day of the following month and six months back, so delay past that line goes unpaid.

  • Do Slovenian pensioners abroad need a certificate of life?

ZPIZ also lists, for recipients living abroad, an obligation to send a certificate showing they are alive. A change of payment account reaching ZPIZ after the fifth of a month takes effect only the next month.
