Pension questions

Philippines pension questions

These are the questions people search about a pension left in the Philippines. Each page answers its question in the first two sentences, and we show those two sentences below, read from the official source with the date we read it. We identify where a pension is likely held and the route to it. We do not give advice.

English

  • How many SSS contributions do I need for a pension?

A lifetime monthly SSS pension, instead of a one time lump sum, requires at least 120 monthly contributions before the semester of retirement. A member who has not met the 120 contribution threshold instead receives a one time lump sum equal to total contributions paid plus interest earned.

  • Do SSS pensioners abroad need an annual confirmation?

An SSS retirement pensioner living outside the Philippines must comply with the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP) programme each year, or the monthly pension is automatically suspended one month after the pensioner's birth month. Once an SSS pension has been suspended for failure to comply with ACOP, the pensioner is automatically cancelled two years after the month of suspension.

  • Can I withdraw my Pag-IBIG savings if I leave the Philippines?

Pag-IBIG Fund guarantees refund of a member's Total Accumulated Value (personal savings, employer counterpart, and dividends) only upon occurrence of a listed ground. Membership maturity after 20 years and 240 monthly membership savings is one ground; permanent departure from the country is a separate, earlier ground that also makes the member eligible for the refund.
