Pension questions

UAE pension questions

These are the questions people search about a pension left in the UAE. Each page answers its question in the first two sentences, and we show those two sentences below, read from the official source with the date we read it. We identify where a pension is likely held and the route to it. We do not give advice.

English

  • Is there a UAE pension for expats?

The UAE pays no state pension to expatriate workers. A private sector expatriate earns an end of service gratuity instead, and only from one full year of continuous service: 21 days of basic wage per year for the first five years, 30 days per year after that, capped at two years' wage.

  • How is end of service gratuity calculated in the UAE?

A private sector expatriate earns an end of service gratuity instead, and only from one full year of continuous service: 21 days of basic wage per year for the first five years, 30 days per year after that, capped at two years' wage. It is a debt of the former employer, and no authority page we read offers a register, a search or a lookup for unpaid end of service money.

  • Is there a time limit for unpaid end of service gratuity in the UAE?

For a private sector job the government portal states that nothing due will be heard once one year has passed from the date of the violation, and that page was last updated 12 August 2026. If the job was in DIFC, the Employment Law is shorter still: a court will not consider a case under that law unless it is brought while employed or within six months of the termination date.

  • What happens to DIFC end of service savings after I leave?

In DIFC the same percentages have been compulsory since 1 February 2020 and sit with a master trustee. In DIFC the money sits with a master trustee and an administrator, and neither DIFC's pages nor its Employment Law states how a former member abroad gets paid.
